A Tradition of Stewardship

Family-run for over 110 years.

You can find our plants at home improvement centers and mass merchants throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Western Canada. The Smith family has focused on growing quality plants for the Northwest community at an affordable price for four generations. Harry Smith began this tradition in 1901 on the original 35-acre property overlooking Bellingham Bay. He constructed our first greenhouses to improve early season vegetable production—and the rest, as they say, is history.

A tradition of stewardship.

As we continue to grow, we have not forgotten the importance of respect to our community and the land we grow on. Our original 35 acres has now grown to over 100 acres of both greenhouse and field production spread throughout four facilities, but our commitment remains to sustainably produce quality plants and promote gardening in the Northwest. To us, stewardship is a lifestyle.

Always growing, always learning.

We recognize after 100 years of growing that two things are certain: change is inevitable and knowledge is endless. Year after year, we travel the world seeking the latest technology in growing, new plant development, and methods to integrate our products into the Northwest garden.
