IT Support Technician - Aurora, OR

Smith Gardens is a Wholesale Nursery company that is headquartered in Bellingham Washington, and is family owned for over 100 years with facilities in three states.

The Aurora, Oregon site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site spans 25 acres with 20 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to repurpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

 Provide excellent technical support for our Customers.
 Utilize and manage company help desk solution to track and prioritize workload.
 Exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
 Resolve hardware and software issues consistent with standard business operations.
 Implement system additions and changes as directed to meet business requirements.
 Maintain and update hardware and software inventory documentation.
 Work in conjunction with other IT Staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
 Develop working relationships with computer users to assist in the resolution of support requests.
 Work with suppliers and vendors to meet support requests.
 Demonstrate ability to handle constantly changing workload and priorities.
 Remain productive during slow times and be able to multitask effectively during heavy workload.
 Purchase hardware, software and professional services as directed by management.
 Manage assigned projects to successful outcomes.
 Enforce company IT Policies, standards and procedures.
 Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
 Maintain and prepare other documentation consistent with IT Department standards.
 Ability to abide by Smith Gardens Code of Conduct on a daily basis.
 Develop and prepare presentation materials for IT Department as required.
 Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities under pressure.
 Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
 Good technical skills with client hardware and software used in a standard business environment.
 Understanding of networking technologies including routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, Remote Access.
 Understanding of Internet technologies including http, ssl, html, xml, etc.
 Ability to work well with or without direct supervision.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Good organizing and planning skills.
 Ability to lift 50 pounds.

 Associate degree or equivalent technical certification.
 2-3 years progressive technical experience with hardware/software trouble-shooting and issue resolution.
 Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
 Work in both an office and warehouse environment.
 Office environment, long hours sitting in front of a computer.
 Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
 Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
 Lift up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.
