Bellingham, WA

Growing for Generations.

The Bellingham facility is the original site of Smith Gardens, established in 1901 by Harry and Nettie Smith. Originally the farm produced vegetables delivered to local Whatcom County markets. In the 1960’s the Smith’s shipped their first load of bedding plants to market on their way to becoming an annual and perennial supplier throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Bellingham site sits on 40 acres with 10 acres under greenhouse. The primary crops are annuals, hanging baskets, organic vegetables and poinsettias. During the 2014 spring season the site shipped out over 6 million plants.

It takes up to 150 team members to successfully perform each season, 45 of whom are full time. Bellingham is the most experienced site by way of years it has been opened and it shows in its staff. Many have been with the company for over 10 years, and with one employee for 36 years! The teamwork and dedication to success is evident through the site.
