Greenhouse Supervisor
Opened in 1988, our Marysville location is the largest site of the Smith Gardens family consisting of 60 acres, with 500,000 square feet of greenhouse space. Marysville is the primary site for perennial production, but also grows mums, hanging baskets and annuals.
JOB SUMMARY
Greenhouse Supervisor directs all moving & spacing, plant maintenance, trials and laydown of crops as needed for crop environment and production processes. Oversees leads, motivates staff while promoting a positive and safe work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the moving, laydown and plant maintenance teams ensuring all standards are followed.
- Supervise department safety related activities such as meetings, SOPs, investigations, and reports incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Continuous Improvement Coach to identify standard work with the goal of increasing efficiency and realizing cost savings.
- Attending all required department/site supervisor meetings.
- Set labor, plan work list, and execute trials projects to promote plant quality and labor efficiency.
- Ensure the work list is completed daily, communicating any obstacles to the manager.
- Comfortable learning and operating both proprietary and external computer systems.
- Track and record periodic departmental KPIs to meet production goals.
- Backup to immediate supervisor.
- Collaborate with and provide backup support to team members across the department to meet operational goals and deadlines.
- Review all staff logs.
- Set an example for team members by promoting and practicing punctual attendance and reliability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Proficient in Spanish
- Fluent in English.
- Experience in greenhouse or nursery environment preferred.
- Plant knowledge preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, reach overhead and side-to-side, and perform physical tasks as needed to support job duties.
- Requires the ability to lift up-to 50 pounds.
- This position may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing and working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to all weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, during peak production seasons.
- Work in both an office and warehouse environment.
PAY RANGE
$23.6 - $26.6 per hour
- $17-$18.50 Per Hour
- $21.00 - $23.00
