Growing Lead

The Aurora site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site has 37 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to repurpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for managing fertility, irrigation, and other cultural requirements of
crops under direction and supervision of the Section Grower. Will be working in a dynamic
team-oriented environment. Will fill in for the
Section Grower when necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Assess crops daily and make irrigation decisions based on cultural information and strategy and as directed by the Section Grower
  • Apply growth chemicals with Section Grower approval
  • Scout crops daily for pest and disease
  • Irrigate and maintain crops as directed
  • Monitor EC levels of feed water and advise when problems arise
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Train staff
  • Flexibility to assist other departments when needed
  • Operate mobile equipment
  • Conduct yourself with high level integrity, adhering to Company standards and values
  • Promote a safe work environment, upholding company safety policies and procedures
  • Promote and offer idea to improve efficiency of crew and process

COMPETENCIES


  • Know how to test for and assess EC and pH levels
  • Know how to operate and maintain irrigation equipment
  • Know how to assess the irrigation needs of specific crop culture
  • Ability to prioritize and manage water resources
  • Ability to identify some common pests and diseases
  • Can work individually and stay on task with little supervision
  • Positive attitude and communicate effectively with team, supervisors, and managers.
  • Respectful and professional attitude toward all employees

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • GH experience preferred
  • Complete and maintain chemical handler training
  • Professional growing experience preferred
  • Detailed and safety oriented
  • Must have basic English skills
  • Self-motivated

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Work long hours as needed. Including weekends and holidays.
  • Continuously walk, stand, squat, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.

PAY RANGE


$17-$19 per hour

  • $17-$18.50 Per Hour
  • $21.00 - $23.00
