Human Resource/Safety Coordinator

Bellingham, WA (Facility)

The Bellingham facility, established in 1901, is the original site of Smith Gardens. The site sits on 40 acres of greenhouse and outside growing area.

JOB SUMMARY


The Human Resource/Safety  Coordinator provides on-site assistance for recruiting, onboarding, safety, and continuous improvement activities.  The Human Resource /Safety Coordinator reports to the facility Human Resources Generalist and assists Safety Director in site Safety Coordination.    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Assists with recruiting process.  Review employment applications, schedule and perform interviews and extend job offers.
  • Assist in the onboarding process, including preparing new hire paperwork and conducting orientations.
  • Assist with walk-in applicants and site administration tasks.
  • Enters employee data into the HR management system.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of employee information.
  • Representing corporate safety initiatives and related documentation on site, coordinating with departments for knowledge and implementation.
  • Assist in processing payroll, including timekeeping and attendance tracking.
  • Assist with employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist to plan, organize, and execute various types of employee events
  • Facilitate the Safety Committee and provide consistent reporting on actions and plans agreed upon at the Safety Committee Meeting.
  • Support Safety Director on injury claim management, injury root cause analysis, injury prevention and safety training.
  • Support and follow up on actions related to facility safety audits.
  • Assist and Site Leaders in coordination of process changes in Safety/CI.
  • Identify potential safety hazards.
  • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and maintain detailed records.
  • Contribute to continuously evaluate and improve safety programs and practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • 1-2 years of administration experience preferred.
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or Punjabi is preferred.
  • Strong experience and skills computer programs, emphasis with databases.
  • Intermediate Math skills as needed.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees and management.
  • Ability to read and write in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
  • Work long hours as needed during the busy season, including weekends.
  • Work in both an office and warehouse environment.

 

PAY RANGE


$21 - $23 per hour

  • $16-$18
  • $19.5 - $21.5
