Merchandising Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY


The Merchandising Supervisor (MS) supervises all live goods merchandising in Home Depot and Walmart Garden Centers in the territory. The MS manages and supports a team of Merchandisers and Lead Merchandisers with all aspects of recruiting, onboarding, training, safety, and merchandising execution.  The position is responsible for communicating the customers’ and SGI’s merchandising directions to the field teams to optimize the consumer’s shopping experience, as well as maximizing scans and sell-through. The MS is also responsible for managing the merchandising of third-party vendor products in the region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Responsible to recruit, interview, hire, train, and team build a professional and knowledgeable merchandising staff of 15+ merchandisers that work in Home Depot and Walmart Garden Centers.
  • Work as a team member with merchandisers, store associates, store managers and district managers
  • Interact with customers and other vendors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Execute approved merchandising plans, store layouts and Plant-O-Grams
  • Utilize reports to manage daily/week merchandising budgets, track labor, and monitor store/territory sales and sell-thru
  • Communicate store inventory and plant quality issues to HD/WM Account Managers and Replenishment Analysts
  • Manage, correct, and approve timecards
  • Put away new orders and restock displays
  • Ensure all product is signed correctly and Ads are executed
  • Execute assigned sales plan and key performance Indicators for Customer and SGI.
  • Communicate store issues and concerns to the Regional Merchandising Manager on a regular basis
  • Ensure Smith Gardens plants fully watered, assist as needed
  • Remove unsellable merchandise from tables and follow culling/discounting procedures
  • Retail work environment includes weekends and holiday work schedules

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • 3-5 years of management / leadership experience
  • 3-5 years of merchandising experience
  • Prior experience in nursery and or bedding plants - Preferable
  • Must have a smartphone to clock in/out of the timekeeping system (Android version 8.0 or later or Apple IOS version 12 or later)
  • Must have reliable transportation and a current driver's license with auto insurance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Pushing and pulling fully loaded rolling delivery racks of product (approximate weight 300-500 lbs.)
  • Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends and holidays.
  • Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather, rain, wind, heat, cold, direct sun, etc.

PAY RANGE


$25 - $27 per hour

  • $16-$18
  • $19.5 - $21.5
