Staging Lead
Bellingham, WA (Facility)
The Bellingham facility, established in 1901, is the original site of Smith Gardens. The site sits on 40 acres of greenhouse and outside growing area.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading a crew to ensure customer satisfaction through quality products and order fulfillment. Position aids and support to the Staging crew, Staging Supervisor, and the Shipping Manager. Will fill in for Staging Supervisor when necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Work closely with the Selecting and/or Staging Supervisors to prioritize orders
• Position empty racks to organize orders in preparation for placement of plants
• Tag and label empty racks according to shipping process
• Move flats of plants onto designated racks
• Monitor quality of plant material received by checking for bugs, disease, etc.
• Audit all orders for proper tags, pots, & labels
• Communicate any defects to Selecting and/or Staging Supervisors
• Keep work area clean and organized
• Train staff
• Flexibility to assist other departments when needed
• Operate mobile equipment
• Conduct yourself with high level integrity, adhering to Company standards and values
• Promote a safe work environment, upholding company safety policies and procedures
• Promote and offer idea to improve efficiency of crew and process

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• With proper training operate mobile equipment
• Detailed and safety oriented
• Self-motivated
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Work long hours as needed. Including weekends and holidays.
• Continuously walk, stand, squat, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
• Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions
• Frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
PAY RANGE
$18.5 -$19.5 per hour
- $17.00 to $18.50
- $24.50 - $26.50
