Transplanting Lead

Aurora, OR

The Aurora site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site has 37 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to repurpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for leading the transplant line staff to achieve daily production rates and maintain quality control. Assist and support Transplanting Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the transplanting department. Mentor and train new staff members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Work closely with Transplant Supervisor to ensure proper running of the equipment and to maximize labor efficiencies.
  • Give feedback and suggestions about positioning people on the belt following the Lean and Flow concept.
  • Develop thorough understanding of transplant standards and work closely with crew to achieve them.
  • Check daily workload with Transplant Supervisor and ensure that correct product is pulled for crops.
  • Fill out daily production reports / lead worksheets.
  • Utilization of equipment available to improve the quality of products coming off the transplanting line.
  • Operate & program equipment available and train others how to use it.
  • Confirm correct materials are ready to use prior to planting.
  • Confirm correct crop location and laydown method are used.
  • Verify production numbers to ensure correct counts.
  • Ensure staff are on Transplant lines and ready to work in a timely fashion at the beginning of the day, after breaks and lunch.

  • Positive attitude and effective communication skills
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Plant and production knowledge preferred.
  • Bending, continuously lifting (10-30lbs), pushing/ pulling empty and full racks, carrying (10-30lbs), reaching, ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Enthusiasm to look for ways to make improvements.

PAY RANGE


$17.5 - $18.5 per hour

  • $18-$19.5
  • $24 - $26
